Manchester United has emerged as the frontrunner to secure the signature of Victor Osimhen this upcoming summer, as reported by various Turkish media outlets.
The Nigerian striker is highly sought after in the summer transfer window, with numerous elite European clubs competing for his talents.
Recently, FootballTransfers indicated that Chelsea appeared to be leading the race for Osimhen, who has expressed an interest in a move to Stamford Bridge.
However, Turkish sources suggest that Manchester United is currently ahead in the competition, which also includes notable clubs such as Arsenal, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, and Barcelona. Taktik Mania, a Turkish publication, asserts that United has already submitted an official bid to Napoli and are intensifying negotiations to bring the 26-year-old to Old Trafford.
Osimhen recently completed a loan move to Galatasaray, where he is contracted until June 2025. This arrangement is strictly a financial agreement, with Galatasaray responsible for covering his salary at a cost of €10 million through the loan period. The striker has had an outstanding season in Turkey, netting 28 goals in just 32 appearances across all competitions.
At the end of this season, Osimhen is set to return to Napoli, after which he is expected to leave the club permanently. His current contract includes a release clause of €75 million applicable to foreign clubs, significantly influencing his future.
The relationship between Osimhen and Napoli deteriorated over the past year, particularly following a fallout with the club. After a challenging summer search for a new club, he even parted ways with his agent when no suitable moves materialized. Unfortunately, Osimhen found himself excluded from Napoli's squad amid the managerial changes, leading him to seek a loan opportunity.
His decision to join Galatasaray came after a tumultuous period with Napoli, especially following a controversial TikTok incident where the club's social media team mocked him for missing a penalty in a match against Bologna. The prior season had been equally difficult on the field, as Napoli struggled to defend their Serie A title, finishing a disappointing 10th. Nevertheless, Osimhen had been a crucial player during their title-winning campaign, scoring an impressive 26 goals in 32 league matches.
As the transfer market heats up, all eyes will be on Osimhen and his next steps, with Manchester United leading the charge in this high-stakes race.
