Today's Over 1.5 Goals Predictions with Analysis

Chelsea will be aiming for vital points in their quest for Champions League qualification this Sunday, as they prepare to face Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium in a local London derby.

Currently, Chelsea holds the fourth spot on the Premier League table, while Brentford finds itself lower down in 11th place as they enter matchday 31.

Match Preview

Brentford’s recent away success came to an abrupt halt in their last outing against Newcastle United, where they suffered a heart-breaking 2-1 defeat. Despite Bryan Mbeumo equalizing with a penalty after Alexander Isak's opener, Brentford fell short when Sandro Tonali netted the winner shortly after, marking their first away loss in the league for 2025.

With Brentford’s ambition to reach European competition, they are aware they must produce an exceptional set of results over their remaining eight fixtures, particularly after losing their previous four away matches against Newcastle.

Returning home, Brentford will be looking to improve their fortunes at the Gtech Community Stadium, where they have yet to register a win in their last seven Premier League home games since a notable 4-2 victory over Newcastle back in December.

Compounding their worries, this season, the Bees hold the unwanted record of being the only team yet to keep a home clean sheet in the Premier League, their last shutout coming in a goalless draw against Fulham in May 2024. This weekend, Brentford will strive to break an 87-year drought for a competitive home win against Chelsea.

Chelsea, on the other hand, will enter the encounter bolstered by confidence following a narrow 1-0 triumph over fellow Londoners Tottenham Hotspur. Enzo Fernandez secured the match with his first Premier League home goal since December, amidst contentious moments as goals by Moises Caicedo and Tottenham’s Pape Matar Sarr were ruled out by VAR.

This victory marks Chelsea's fourth consecutive win against Tottenham and sees them comfortably sitting in fourth place, with their eyes likely set on maintaining or improving their position as they chase European football next season.

Notably, while Chelsea has excelled at home, their away performances have been alarming, collecting just two points in their last seven league outings on the road since a thrilling 4-3 victory at Tottenham in December.

They face a potential risk of extending their losing streak to five away league matches—a feat not seen since 2000. Despite recent struggles in away fixtures, Chelsea will feel optimistic heading into this match, having not lost to Brentford in their last seven encounters, although their last two visits ended in stalemates.

Team News

Brentford will be without Fabio Carvalho for the remainder of the season due to a recent shoulder operation. Additionally, both Josh Dasilva and Igor Thiago remain unavailable due to knee injuries, while Aaron Hickey and Gustavo Nunes are still working towards full fitness after participating in a recent B team match.

Coach Thomas Frank has indicated that Rico Henry is in the running to return, after making good progress from his hamstring injury, and Mathias Jensen is likely to be back among the substitutes following an illness.

For Chelsea, manager Enzo Maresca has revealed fresh injury concerns, as defender Wesley Fofana and midfielder Romeo Lavia have recently picked up muscle injuries. Lavia's potential return seems sooner than Fofana's.

Omari Kellyman is out for the season with a hamstring injury, and Mykhaylo Mudryk is facing a provisional suspension following a doping violation. Reece James is expected to return to the lineup after being managed carefully in the previous match, and Noni Madueke may also start following his recovery.

Potential Lineups:

Brentford: Flekken; Van den Berg, Collins, Pinnock, Lewis-Potter; Norgaard, Janelt; Mbeumo, Damsgaard, Schade; Wissa.

Chelsea: Sanchez; James, Chalobah, Colwill, Cucurella; Caicedo, Fernandez; Madueke, Palmer, Neto; Jackson.

Our prediction is a 0-2 Win.

Chelsea will be eager to shake off their slump in away games, yet given the history of their encounters at the Gtech Community Stadium, it could be another stalemate this Sunday.
